Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal may have led the most laps in yesterday’s Sonsio Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the IMS road course however, it was championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing who once again came out on top.
Following a fantastic strategy led by Barry Wanser and the No.10 crew, the Spaniard found himself at the front towards the end of the race.
A late caution failed to put the brakes on Palou who takes a unprecedented 97-point lead in the championship into the Greatest Spectacle In Racing.
Palou said:
“I cannot describe the amazing season we’ve had so far. “I owe everything to the team, Chip Ganassi Racing, my teammates, everybody who is working behind the scenes to make me look so fast on track. It’s amazing. It’s unbelievable.”
Palou’s teammate Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda came from 12th to finish in fifth.
A gearbox issue meant that Kyffin Simpson was unable to start the race from a career best equaling tenth place.
Taking to X he said:
You just have days like this sometimes. Unfortunately we weren’t able to select first gear and start the race. Still, I’m confident in the #8 Journie crew bouncing back at the 500. We’ve got speed.
