Ed Carpenter Racing’s Danica Patrick has revealed that she came close to running the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 following her full-time move to NASCAR in 2012.

Speaking during a press conference at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week following her first run in an IndyCar is seven years, Patrick revealed that her then NASCAR team manager put the brakes on her Indianapolis 500 comeback as he believed it would call into question her commitment to NASCAR.

Patrick drove her No.13 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet at the Speedway on Tuesday as she prepares to take part in her last ever Indianapolis 500 event later this month.

Patrick had a few small issues with the car however she soon got up to speed so much so that IndyCar had to ask the veteran to slow down as she had exceeded the speed for the refresher test.

In the press conference Patrick did not elaborate as to which team she had been in talks with to compete in the Indianapolis 500 in 2013.
