NASCAR Cup Series driver Danica Patrick took to Facebook on Tuesday to confirm that she will not be with Stewart Haas Racing in 2018.
The news could potentially open the door for Patrick to make a full-time return to the Verizon IndyCar Series.
If Patrick were to return to the series it would be huge for the sport.
Danica drove in the Verizon IndyCar Series from 2005 – 2011. During her Verizon IndyCar Series career, Patrick won one race, took nine podium finishes and three pole positions.
Patrick became the first female driver to lead laps at the Indianapolis 500 in 2005 with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Patrick was very popular among sponsors in the Verizon IndyCar Series and it would be massive news if she were to return to IndyCar in 2018.
There is a number of seats available in the Verizon IndyCar Series for 2018 so she wouls be able to find a seat with a team.
