The NTT IndyCar Series announced on Tuesday, the eve of the opening race of the 2021 season this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama that Pennzoil has been named the official oil and lubricant supplier to the series as part of a multi-year agreement that will also see the Pennzoil IndyCar Technical Inspection area be a part of all 17 rounds of the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series including at next months 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Patty Lanning, VP North American Marketing of Shell Lubricants commented saying:

“Pennzoil has participated in the INDYCAR SERIES for many decades and during that time enjoyed much success, including the popular Pennzoil-sponsored Indianapolis 500 winners driven by Johnny Rutherford in 1980 and Rick Mears in 1984 and 1988. “At Pennzoil, we are proud to become the Official Motor Oil of INDYCAR to build on our success and legacy on and off the track in one of America’s premier motorsports series.”

Selda Gunsel, vice president, Global Commercial Technology, Shell Lubricants stated:

“The extreme stress put on an NTT INDYCAR SERIES engine provides the optimal test bed for modern motor oils like Pennzoil Synthetics. The highly efficient and powerful engine technology used in INDYCAR has presented Pennzoil with an opportunity to innovate and prove that our made-from-natural gas motor oils can make a difference on the track.”

Pennzoil will also continue their long-standing affiliation with Team Penske this season with Indianapolis 500 rookie, Scott McLaughlin set to pilot the No.3 Pennzoil Chevrolet made famous by Indy 500 legends Rick Mears and Helio Castroneves.
