Team Penske founder Roger Penske has confirmed that his outfit will run three full-time cars in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018.
Speaking to Paddock Eye during a team teleconference, The Captain confirmed that the team will run just 4 cars for the month of May with both the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Penske confirmed that Helio Castroneves will run the Indianapolis 500 in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet and the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Captain also confirmed that it’s up to Juan Pablo Montoya as to whether or not he wants to race in the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with another team and that Penske will not stand in his way.
Penske also confirmed to Paddock Eye that Jonathan Diuguid, Helio Castroneves’ Verizon IndyCar Series race engineer will continue in that role with the Brazilian when he returns to the No.3 Chevrolet for the month of May and that Diuguid will also be involved in Penske’s IMSA programme.
