NTT IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske has enough on his plate without adding the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team to his vast motorsport portfolio.
Rumours on social media on Friday evening suggested that Roger Penske was considering purchasing the Brackley based out who according to reports are for sale as Daimler turn their focus to the ABB FIA Formula E championship.
The reports claim that Penske whose Penske Entertainment a subsidiary of the Penske Group recently agreed to purchase the motor racing assets of Hulman and Company which includes the NTT IndyCar Series, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IMS Productions is interested in purchasing the Silver Arrows.
The report suggests that Mercedes will remain in Formula One as an engine supplier with the German manufacturer returning to McLaren in 2021.
Paddock Eye understands that these reports regarding Penske are completely untrue and unfounded given the fact that the Captain has just purchased IndyCar, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IMS Productions.
