Team Penske head into this weekend’s Honda Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park having won two of the opening three Verizon IndyCar Series races of the 2016 season. Juan Pablo Montoya took victory at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in March with Simon Pagenaud in second place and Penske following this up with another second place for Pagenaud in Phoenix while Will Power ended the race in third place on his return after missing the season opener.
Last time out at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Simon Pagenaud took victory ahead of Scott Dixon with Helio Castroneves coming home in third place. Juan Pablo Montoya was fourth while Will Power ended the event in seventh place.
So now IndyCar heads to Barber, when in 37 starts here Team Penske have four wins and seven podium finishes.
In 2012, Will Power started the race from ninth place, the only time in six races here that he has failed to qualify on the front row and came through the field to take the win. Helio Castroneves took victory here at the inaugural Verizon IndyCar Series race in 2010.
Team Penske have a 50% win record here having taken victory three time in the last six Verizon IndyCar Series events here with two wins for Will Power and one for Helio Castroneves. Juan Pablo Montoya and Simon Pagenaud will be hoping to add to Penske’s win ratio this weekend.
