Team Penske are likely to return to a three car operation in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2022 following the departure of Simon Pagenaud from the team.

Meyer Shank Racing announced this week that Simon Pagenaud will join Helio Castroneves at the team for the 2022 IndyCar Series season.

The news means that Will Power, Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin will be in the team next season.

Team Penske has not won the championship since 2019 with Josef Newgarden.

Scott McLaughlin who joined the team full-time for the 2021 season won the Rookie Of The Year championship in 2021and showed that he is a star of the future.

It is unclear if the team will run a fourth car in next year’s Indianapolis 500 as Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves will be at Meyer Shank Racing while Paddock Eye understands that Juan Pablo Montoya will once again compete in the Indianapolis 500 with Arrow McLaren SP.
