The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park takes place today with Team Penske’s Will Power set to lead the field with the team having all four of their cars in top four in qualifying.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 NTT DATA Honda heads into the race 18 points behind series leader Josef Newgarden and despite the Iceman saying after qualifying that he is expecting a tough race, the series has shown us this season that absolutely anything can happen.
Dixon starts the race from seventh place on the grid just behind Andretti Autosport’s Takuma Sato.
Dixon and Ganassi have done a fantastic job in 2017 following the return to Honda to Ganassi ahead of the start of the season and Dixon has been on the podium multiple times this season.
While Josef Newgarden has his team mate’s to back him up this weekend that scenario is unlikely as they are all still in the running for the title, Dixon will be hoping that a good strategy from Mike Hull and the No.9 crew will help bring him to the front of the field in tonight’s race.
