AJ Foyt Racing’s technical partnership with Team Penske is really paying off dividends for the Speedway and Texas-based outfit. In the opening race of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, Santino Ferrucci in the No.14 Sexton Properties Chevrolet started the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding from 14th place and came home in 11th while in practice at the Thermal Club on Friday, Ferrucci was 19th.
Engineering staff from Team Penske have moved across to Foyt to work alongside Santino Ferrucci and Sting Ray Robb. Foyt has also managed to hold on to INDYCAR SERIES veteran Michael Cannon overseeing the entire engineering department within AJ Foyt Racing.
When asked during his pre-Thermal Q&A with the team about what they learned from St Petersburg that they can bring forward for the remainder of the season, Ferrucci said:
“Good preparation is going to be important. We came off the trailer about perfect, we need to basically continue that moving forward.”
