Team Penske owner Roger Penske was very happy to see his No.12 Verizon Chevrolet driven by Australian Will Power come home in victory lane at the Indianapolis Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday but is looking ahead to the end of the month and the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Speaking following the race, ‘The Captain’ commented by saying:
It’s a great feeling to see the car in the lead at the end of the last lap, especially here.
Penske will run five cars in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in two weeks time with Juan Pablo Montoya returning to the cockpit of an IndyCar driving the No.22 Fitzgerald Glider Kits Chevrolet.
Penske is looking to add to his 16 baby Borg’s this year, a record in the Verizon IndyCar Series.
Juan Pablo Montoya was the last driver to win the Indianapolis 500 for ‘The Captain’ when the Colombian came from the back of the field in 33rd place to win the 99th running of the race in 2015.
Penske head into the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in great shape having taken victory in three out of the last three races with Josef Newgarden taking victory at Barber Motorsports Park, reigning series champion and current points leader Simon Pagenaud having won in Phoenix while Will Power took victory yesterday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which bodes well for the Indianapolis 500.
Practice for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil gets underway tomorrow.
