Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen will start Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit from the pit lane after the team were forced to change both his engine and gearbox following his crash during Q3 on Saturday.
Charles Leclerc followed up his first win in Belgium last weekend with pole position for Ferrari.
Championship leader Lewis Hamilton starts along side Leclerc while Valtteri Bottas starts from third place on the grid. Sebastian Vettel starts the race from 4th place just ahead of the Renault F1 team’s Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg.
McLaren Racing’s Sainz starts the race from seventh just ahead of Alex Albon and Lance Stroll while Antonio Giovinazzi rounds out the top ten.
The Haas F1 team’s Kevin Magnussen starts 11th just ahead of Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat.
Romain Grosjean starts 13th just ahead of Sergio Perez. Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen was due to start 15th but due to his pit lane start that goes to Rokit Williams Racing’s George Russell.
Robert Kubica starts the race from 16th just ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly.
Max Verstappen for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing rounded out the grid.
The FIA have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the farcical events of Q3 which resulted in Lando Norris being the only driver to post a second lap time as the other drivers didn’t want to be in what us known as the tow.
