Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has plenty of options available to them when it comes to who will pilot the No.45 Hy-Vee Honda in 2022.

The team announced on Thursday that they will expand their full-time NTT IndyCar Series programme to three cars in 2022 thanks to full-time primary sponsorship from Hy-Vee.

The team has run a third car at select events this season with Santino Ferrucci and Christian Lundgaard.

Santino Ferrucci is definitely a candidate for the full-time seat but a lot depends on what his NASCAR plans are. Paddock Eye understands that current Meyer Shank Racing driver Jack Harvey is set to join Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing either as a replacement for Takuma Sato who is yet to decide what his plans are or he could slot into the No.45 Hy-Vee Honda.

Paddock Eye also understands that Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe is also in the running for a seat at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing having missed out on a seat with the team for 2021.
