Philip Morris International insist that their sponsorship of Scuderia Ferrari fully complies with advertising regulations despite an investigation by Australian authorities into Ferrari’s Formula One livery ahead of the season opening Australian Grand Prix.
Formula One introduced a ban on tobacco advertising ahead of the 2007 season however Philip Morris International, the owners of tobacco brand Marlboro retained the ownership of Ferrari’s livery.
At the Japanese Grand Prix last year Ferrari introduced a new livery with sponsorship from Mission Winnow a new initial from Philip Morris International to get the company away from tobacco production.
Philip Morris International have insisted that Ferrari’s Mission Winnow has absolutely nothing to do with tobacco. The Mission Winnow logo is similar to that of Marlboro and this is why Australian authorities have launched an investigation.
