Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe was asked on Sunday in Victory Lane at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach if he every thought while in hospital in Indianapolis in 2015 if he would ever go to Verizon IndyCar Series Victory Lane, without hesitation, the Mayor Of HinchTown replied absolutely YES he did.

On May 18 2015, Hinchcliffe had his horrific accident during practice for the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500, four months later he was back in the cockpit of his No.5 Arrow Honda as he tested a Verizon IndyCar for the first time since May.

Hinch took pole position for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, his first Verizon IndyCar Series P1 Award on May 22 2016, one year and four days after his accident.

On July 17 2016, the Mayor of HinchTown scored a third place finish at his home race, the Honda Indy Toronto at Exhibition Place and on April 9 2017, Hinchcliffe started the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, round 2 of the Verizon IndyCar Series season from fourth place and drove a superb race ending up in Victory Lane securing his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series win.
