Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet took his 71st career P1 Award for Sunday’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.
The Australian set a two-lap average of 180.329MPH and starts the race ahead of Scott McLaughlin.
It was Power’s first pole since 2023. Pato O’Ward starts the race from third while it was a fantastic session for AJ Foyt Racing’s David Malukas as he starts the race fourth.
Josef Newgarden starts fifth just ahead of the Meyer Shank Racing duo of Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist who were the fastest Honda cars.
Colton Herta starts the race from eighth just ahead of championship leader Alex Palou who set a two-lap average of 178.381MPH.
Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top ten. Scott Dixon starts the race from 11th in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda with a two-lap average of 178.014MPH and starts just ahead of Ed Carpenter Racing’s Alexander Rossi.
Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson starts 13th just ahead of Christian Lundgaard while Conor Daly had a solid run for Juncos Hollinger Racing with a two lap average of 176.807MPH and starts the race just ahead of Callum Ilott and Devlin DeFrancesco.
Rinus VeeKay starts 18th for Dale Coyne Racing just ahead of Santino Ferrucci while Nolan Siegel rounds out the top twenty.
Louis Foster rolls off 21st just ahead of his teammate Graham Rahal while Sting Ray Robb starts 23rd.
Robert Shwartzman starts 24th for PREMA just ahead of Christian Rasmussen.
Kyffin Simpson and Jacob Abel round out the grid.
There is a final practice session tonight ahead of tomorrow’s race.
