Team Penske’s Will Power who drives the No.12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet in the  NTT IndyCar Series says he does not see the series returning to his homeland of Australia anytime soon.

Surfers Paradise hosted the Champ Car World Series (CART) from 1991 to 2007 and the NTT IndyCar Series in 2008. A return to Queensland looked to be on the cards in recent years however talk did not materialize.

Speaking during a Zoom conference call on Monday ahead of the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season-opening Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama this weekend, the Toowoomba native said that he does not see NTT IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske bringing the series back to Australia certainly within the next five years as he aims to build the profile of the sport in the United States.

The NTT IndyCar Series has added Nashville to their schedule for the 2021 season, the first new circuit to be added to the calendar since Worldwide Technology Raceway joined the calendar in 2017.
