Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet’s Will Power in the No.12 Chevrolet set the fastest time in the second session ahead of Sunday’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach setting a fastest time of 1m 07.5992s ending the session just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Electronics Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda.

Graham Rahal in the No.15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with Theodore Racing made it two Honda powered cars in the top three setting a fastest time of 1m 07.8853s ending the day just ahead of Team Penske’s championship leader Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 PPG Automotive Refinish Chevrolet.

Juan Pablo Montoya who led the way this morning was fifth fastest just behind his team mate in the No.2 Verizon Chevrolet with Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet in sixth place.

Josef Newgarden in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet did a great job putting his car into seventh place just ahead of series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Team Chevrolet. Dixon set a fastest time of 1m 08.1123s ending up just ahead of AJ Foyt Racing’s Jack Hawksworth who dropped back a bit from this morning ending the afternoon in ninth place in the No.41 ABC Supply Co Honda. Andretti Autosport’s Carlos Munoz was the leading car from the Andretti stable rounding out the top ten.

Takuma Sato in the No.14 ABC Supply Co AJ Foyt Racing Honda ended the day just outside the top ten in 11th place just ahead of Charlie Kimball who recovered well from this morning’s brake issue in the No.83 Tresbia Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Sebastien Bourdais in the No.11 KVSH Racing Chevrolet was 13th fastest completing 21 laps ending the day just ahead of the No.7 SPM Racing Honda of Mikhail Aleshin.

Conor Daly in the No.18 Jonathan Byrd’s Hospitality and Restaurant Group Dale Coyne Racing Honda was 15th fastest just ahead of the No.10 NTT Data Chevrolet of Tony Kanaan.

Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda was 17th fastest just ahead of Andretti Autosport team mate Marco Andretti with Max Chilton in the No.8 Gallagher Chevrolet in 19th place respectively.

Following his impact with the tyre wall this morning, Alexander Rossi was back on track in the No.98 Castrol Edge/Curb Honda ending the session in 20th place with Luca Filippi rounding out the order in 21st place for the Dale Coyne Racing Team.
