Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet was stoked to have scored a second place finish in the opening race of the Milwaukee Mile double-header on Saturday night.

The Australian who started the race from fifth place came home in second place just ahead of Conor Daly and just behind race winner Pato O’Ward.

Power’s result sees him close the gap in the championship to 43 points behind Alex Palou.

Speaking following Saturday’s race, Power said:

Stoked to get on the podium with the Verizon Chevy. One more was what we needed. Pato (O’Ward) was super good and strong, and got through that traffic really well. Alex (Palou) is forever consistent, so it’s hard to drop that points gap but we’re doing everything we need to at the moment. We’re executing good starts and strategies. Keep digging, man. Keep digging and try and keep the fight to the end.”

Power can keep the championship alive to the last race of the season in Nashville in two weeks time if he leave Milwaukee tonight less than 54 points behind Palou.
