Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet suffered a suspected hybrid power issue in the back of his INDYCAR during Saturday morning’s second practice session ahead of Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding.
Power came to a stop on track, and INDYCAR Managing Director at Team Penske Ron Ruzuski told INDYCAR on Fox’s pit-lane reporter Jamie Little that it was a suspected hybrid issue.
Power had a solid start to his weekend with a tenth-place finish just behind his Team Penske teammate Josef Newgarden, who was ninth, while Scott McLaughlin suffered a heavy crash with Team Penske confirming on Saturday morning during practice that they had to replace the floor on the No.3 DEX Imaging Chevrolet.
