Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet ended the opening race of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on Saturday as the leading Chevrolet driver in seventh place and speaking following the race he said:

Obviously, we have good top-end speed, which is great for Indy and some of these tracks with longer straights. I drove pretty hard for seventh place. Our car is pretty good; the handling is not bad, so there’s not much I could pick out to gain us some speed. If we could qualify a little better, like in the top four, it would make a big difference. You could do something there with strategy.

Defending series champion Josef Newgarden in the No.1 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet started the race from 14th place and finished the race in ninth place and speaking following the race the Tennessee native commented by saying:

Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 DXC Technology Chevrolet started the race from 13th place on the grid and finished the event in 17th place.
