Former World Rally Championship co-driver, MSA and Prodrive Chairman David Richards CBE will deliver the Watkins Lecture (named after former FIA Formula One doctor, Professor Sid Watkins) at the Autosport International Show on Friday 12th January at 11:15AM.

It is the second time that Richards has been invited to speak at the lecture, he becomes only the third person to have been invited back to the talk in lectures 21 year history. The other previous returnees were Professor Watkins himself and Formula One designer Adrian Newey.

Speaking about Richards return to the lecture, Autosport International Show director, Kate Woodley commented by saying:

It’s great to welcome David Richards back to speak at the renowned Watkins Lecture. With such a wealth of experience across numerous motorsport series, it is sure to be a fascinating and insightful discussion.

During their 30 plus years in motorsport, Prodrive, which Richards founded in 1984, have won six World Rally Championships, four British Touring Car Championships, four LeMans titles and numerous other championships in their history.

Prodrive also ran the BAR-Honda Formula One team over the course of three seasons with David Richards serving as team principal for three seasons. In 2004, Richards led BAR-Honda to second place in the Constructors Championship.

Speaking about Richards’ upcoming appearance at Autosport International, Motorsport Safety Fund Chairman, Ian Roberts commented by saying:

The Trustees of the Fund are delighted that David has accepted our invitation to be the guest speaker for a second time. It is particularly fitting this year with David just starting his term as Chairman of the MSA
