Kanaan Hopes To Come Back In 2021

AJ Foyt Racing’s Tony Kanaan in the No.14 Big Machine Vodka Chevrolet came home in 19th place as his TK Last Lap came to an end at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian who had always planned to do just the oval races this season had hoped to end his involvement in the NTT IndyCar Series with fans in the stands but COVID 19 put the brakes on that plan.

Speaking following the action TK said:

I wish I could have given the boys and A.J. (Foyt) and Big Machine a better result, but the rest of the day was fun. “It was a good way to end it. I want to thank my fans, my team and everyone who has been involved in this journey, my family. It’s been good.

“I’m done for this year but hopefully not done totally, but we’ll see. My fingers are crossed that maybe I could come back for a proper last lap with my fans, but for now, drop the mic.

Speaking during a conference call following the race Kanaan said he hopes to come back next year for a number of races but doesn’t have a team however his sponsors are keen to help him secure a programme for next season for now there is nothing on the table.

Speaking following the race on Sunday Kanaan said:

Track position was everything. We had a pretty decent start, moved up a little bit but honestly, I think it was pretty boring race — but it was a boring race for everyone. Mixed feelings on my last one. I wish I could have given the boys and A.J. (Foyt) and Big Machine a better result, but the rest of the day was fun. It was a good way to end it. I want to thank my fans, my team and everyone who has been involved in this journey, my family. It’s been good. I’m done for this year but hopefully not done totally, but we’ll see. My fingers are crossed that maybe I could come back for a proper last lap with my fans, but for now, drop the mic.”
