The Verizon IndyCar Series looks set to add some cars to their grid in 2018. Harding Racing who return to the series for this weekend’s Rainguard Water Sealers 600 at Texas Motor Speedway will go full-time next season and now Paddock Eye has learned that Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing are close to securing a deal to run a second car full time in 2018.
Rahal ran a second car for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade and for the Dual in Detroit last weekend with Oriol Servia driving the No.16 Fifth Third Bank Honda.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing completely dominated the Dual in Detroit weekend with Graham Rahal taking pole position for the first race and taking the win and in race 2, Rahal who started the race from third place took victory, becoming the first driver to do the double in Detroit.
Rahal last ran a second car full-time in IndyCar in 2013 with James Jakes joining Graham Rahal. Team co-owner Bobby Rahal has said that they are close to finalizing a deal for a second full-time entry.
It remains unclear who will be the team’s second driver in 2018.
