Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal heads to the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit on Belle Isle hoping to score a hat-trick of podiums. Rahal scored a second place finish here in 2014 in Race 1 while in Race 2 in 2015 he scored a third place finish.

Rahal goes into the races this weekend having finished the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in 14th place having qualified for the event in 26th place. Rahal is currently in 12th place on 173 points. Speaking about his expectations for this weekend Rahal commented by saying:

Iā€™m looking forward to getting back on a street course,ā€ said Rahal. ā€œI think we should be good. I know Long Beach was frustrating but I get the sense the United Rentals car should be fast and competitive. I am looking forward to getting to Detroit and getting running as soon as possible. Last year was a tough, wet, weekend. We were too conservative in the first race and ultimately got collected in others messes. We then went on Sunday and had a great race to follow it all up with podium. We are looking for a good solid weekend all around again this year.

Rahal went on to discuss the physical demands of a double header race weekend and the state of play in the points standings by saying:

The double-header is tough because it’s physical and a lot is thrown at you in a short period of time. With two full races it’s very valuable in the championship to have a great run in both races and gain as many points as we can.
