Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s hometown favourite Graham Rahal in the No.15 Steak N’Shake Honda ended the race day morning warm-up at the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio sports car course as the fastest driver setting a 01:05.0239s ending the session just ahead of Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Hitauochi Chevrolet.
Marco Andretti in the No.27 Honda ended the session in third place just ahead of his team mate Takuma Sato in the No.26 Rouff Home Mortgages Honda while Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda ended the session in fifth place.
Conor Daly in the No.4 ABC Supply Co Chevrolet had a great session as he was sixth fastest for AJ Foyt Racing just ahead of Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden in the No.2 PPG Automotive Refinish Chevrolet.
Alexander Rossi was eighth in the No.98 Honda while Scott Dixon was ninth in the No.9 NTT DATA Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing while Esteban Gutierrez rounded out the top ten.
Ed Jones was 11th for Dale Coyne Racing in the No.19 Boy Scouts of America Honda ending the session just ahead of Team Penske’s reigning series champion Simon Pagenaud in the No.1 Menards Chevrolet.
Carlos Munoz was 13th in the No.14 ABC Supply Co Chevrolet just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda.
JR Hildebrand in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet was 15th for Ed Carpenter Racing while pole sitter Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet was 16th fastest just ahead of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Mikhail Aleshin in the No.7 Lucas Oil Honda.
Max Chilton in the No.8 Gallagher Honda was 18th just ahead of his Chip Ganassi Racing team mate Charlie Kimball in the No.83 Tresiba® Honda.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe was 20th in the No.5 Arrow Honda while Spencer Pigot rounded out the order in 21st place in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet after hitting the wall hard causing considerable damage to his car meaning that the team have had to switch to the back up car for the race. Pigot was checked and cleared by the IndyCar medical team.
