Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing co-owner Bobby Rahal says he is really pleased to see Portland return to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 for the first time in ten years. Rahal, who took victory here in 1987 commented on the return of Portland by saying:
I am really pleased that IndyCar racing is going back to the Northwest where we always had a good following in CART and Champ Car in Portland. It is a top race track, always one of those places that were very demanding. I won in 1987 but had other races where I thought I could win it but had mechanical issues. I think this is a victory for IndyCar, a victory for the city of Portland and most importantly I think this is a victory for the fans.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing will run two full-time cars in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 with 2017 Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil winner Takuma Sato having joined the team from Andretti Autosport.
The Japanese driver will driver alongside Graham Rahal.
