Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet took pole position for race one of the Dual in Detroit however he has now lost the Verizon P1 Award for not slowing down during a caution period meaning that Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal will start the race from pole position. Rahal set a new lap record of 01:13.9681s
Takuma Sato and Alexander Rossi start the race from third and fourth for Andretti Autosport while Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Honda starts the race from fifth place just ahead of Scott Dixon in the No.9 Camping World Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing.
For Rahal it is his first Verizon P1 Award since Kansas 2009 which was 134 races ago. Full results coming up.
