Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal says that he would like to see the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on an international level. Speaking during content day Rahal said that he understands that several sponsors involved in the sport are not willing to go internationally however, in his case with United Rentals who are international it is something that they would like to see done.
With the new TV deal, Rahal said that it is key that there are races on network television on NBC and that is more than what NASCAR has with their new TV deal and he does not want to see that happening with INDYCAR.
Speaking about the Hybrid system delay, Rahal said he was glad to see it being delayed but he is not sure how he feels about it being introduced mid-way through the season. He said that fans do not know how difficult it is for suppliers to deliver and he feels that there would have been serious trouble for the series had they tried to implement it for the season-opener in St Pete.
Speaking to Paddock Eye about the NTT INDYCAR SERIES return to the Milwaukee Mile, Rahal said:
Well, my initial thoughts are how are we going to fit all the cars in pit lane. That was helped last night after dinner, so I think we’ll be better there.
I’m a huge Milwaukee Mile fan. It is the best short oval that I’ve competed at. It’s the trickiest short oval that I’ve competed at just because it’s flat. It’s a lot of different pavement types and not a very grippy surface. It’s just a very demanding place.
I think if the promotion is done correctly, the Milwaukee Mile can have a great following.
The last couple years that we went there, I don’t know that it was promoted as well as it should have been, so let’s see what happens this year. But I’m thrilled to go back to Milwaukee.
