Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team co-owner Bobby Rahal has confirmed that his outfit are working on securing the funds necessary to run a second full-time entry in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2017.

Rahal has confirmed that the team are working with Spaniard Oriol Servia on a programme for 2017 which he hopes will work for the entire season.

Servia drove in place of Will Power for Team Penske in Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in March and also drove for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports as a third car entrant for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May finishing 12th.

Rahal is aware however that a number of things still need to fall into place to enable his team to run a second car in 2017. The main issue is trying to find the funding to run a second car.
