Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen’s Kimi Raikkonen was fastest on Thursday as testing continued at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya.
In his first day in the C39 the Iceman set a fastest time of 01:17.091s before stopping out on track with an as yet undiagnosed issue.
Raikkonen ended the day just ahead of the BWT Racing Point F1 team’s Sergio Perez who set a time of 01:17.347s ending the day just ahead of the Renault F1 Team’s Daniel Ricciardo.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Alexander Albon was fourth fastest with a time of 01:17.912s.
Alpha Tauri’s Pierre Gasly was fifth fastest with a time of 01:18.121s.
Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was on track for the first time today after missing Wednesday due to being unwell. The four time world champion set a fastest time of 01:18.154s.
It was another great day for RoKit Williams Racing as George Russell recorded the seventh fastest time with a 01:18.266ss and reported that he already feels he will be able to have more fun the FW43.
Charles Leclerc was eighth fastest for Ferrari ending the day with a time of 01:18.355s ending the day ahead of defending champion Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes who have introduced a new Dual Axis Steering system. The six time champion ended the day with a time of 01:18.387s.
McLaren Racing’s Lando Norris rounded out the top ten in the MCL35 with a time of 01:18.474s.
Romain Grosjean was 11th for the Haas F1 Team with a time of 01:18.496s ending up just ahead of Renault’s Esteban Ocon who set a tIme of 01:18.557s.
Valtteri Bottas rounded out the order for Mercedes with a time of 01:19.307s. The opening test concludes tomorrow.
