Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen taking part in his first day of winter testing in the new SF70H ended day two of winter testing at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya as the fastest driver. The Iceman completed 108 laps of the Montmelo circuit setting a fastest time of 01:20.960s using the Soft tyre.
Mercedes Lewis Hamilton who once again shared the driving duties in the W08 with team mate Valtteri Bottas was second fastest completing 66 laps with a fastest time of 01:20.983s on the Super Soft tyre compound.
Max Verstappen, on his first day in the RB13 for Red Bull Racing was third fastest completing 89 laps with a fastest time of 01:22.200 using the Soft compound tyre.
It was another great day for the Haas F1 Team as Kevin Magnussen who was back in the cock-pit of the Ferrari powered VF-17 was once again in fourth place, the Dane completed 118 laps (the most of any today) setting a fastest time of 01:22.204s on Medium tyres.
Sahara Force India Formula One Team’s Esteban Ocon ended the day with the fifth fastest time in the VJM10 with a fastest time of 01:22.509s completing 86 laps.
Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat was sixth fastest in the STR12 setting a fastest time of 01:22.956s on the Soft tyre completing 68 laps. The Russian ended the day just ahead of Mercedes Valtteri Bottas who set a fastest time of 01:22.986s completing 101 laps despite a spin during his run.
Renault Sport F1 Team’s Jolyon Palmer ended the day in eighth place just ahead of the Sauber F1 Team’s Antonio Giovinazzi who completed 66 laps with a fastest time of 01:24.617s.
McLaren Honda had another difficult day as the team were once again forced to change an engine following an issue with Stoffel Vandoorne ending the day in 10th place.
Lance Stroll rounded out the order in 11th place for the Williams Martini Racing team in the FW40 after crashing at Turn 9 in the morning which ended the Canadian’s day early. Testing continues on Wednesday.
