Organizers of the 2017 Rally Guanajuato Corona have confirmed that they have cancelled their 50 mile Guanajuato stage.

Last year’s stage was won by Sebastien Ogier for Volkswagen. Ogier, who moves to M-Sport for the 2017 season completed the stage last year in 48 minutes. In a statement from the rally organisers, they said:

We’ve gone back to the drawing board to rethink the entire spectator experience. Half a million people represent a monumental task and we must find better ways to serve them. o that end, we’ve redesigned the information we provide to spectators, both in printed form and on road signs leading to special stages, to make it clearer and easier to understand. The access roads have been upgraded, too. We have also modified the route to make it more spectator-friendly.

The rally of Mexico takes place from March 9-12. The 2016 rally was won by Jari-Matti Latvala and Volkswagen.
