Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat has admitted that when he got the call from Red Bull to say that he was being replaced ahead of Spanish Grand Prix that it came as a shock.
The Russian who outscored former team mate Daniel Kvyat in his first season with Red Bull Racing last season has been replaced at the Milton Keynes based outfit by teenager Max Verstappen with Kvyat moving in the opposite direction to Toro Rosso alongside Carlos Sainz Jr.
Kvyat had two accident’s in the last two races clashing with Sebastian Vettel in the last two races in Russia and China.
In China however the Russia scored a podium finish ending the race in third place behind Sebastian Vettel. Speaking during Thursday’s driver press conference ahead of Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix the Russian said that Red Bull management want what they want and that he spent 20 minutes on the phone to Red Bull when he was told that he would be replaced.
