The Renault F1 Team were forced to cut short their second day of running at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya in Montmelo on Tuesday after Jolyon Palmer’s car came to a stop on track.

This brings to an end his test as Kevin Magnussen is due to take over driving duties on Wednesday.

Palmer completed 42 laps before his session was interrupted at Turn 2 at approximately 2.35pm local time when smoke began to come out of the car.

Palmer commented on Twitter by saying:

Done for the day, but 42 laps is better than 37 laps. Moving in the right direction at least 👍

The Enstone outfit also tweeted:

From our own special analysis (no tech. person involved), we think the car tried to tweet, realised it couldn’t & reverted to smoke signals.
