Williams Martini Racing Team’s Head of Performance Engineering Rob Smedley has told fans to give new driver Lance Stroll six months until the judge the him.
The talented Canadian will make his Formula One debut with Williams Martini Racing alongside Felipe Massa at the Australian Grand Prix next weekend. Speaking to Auto Motor Und Sport, Smedley said that Stroll just needs confidence heading into the new season.
The Canadian had a difficult opening to winter testing having crashed the FW40 however the team refused to blame the rookie.
Smedley believes that the pressure will be immense on Stroll in Australian and that there is a narrower margin of error in Melbourne due to the fact that it is a street circuit which is not like the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya where winter testing took place.
At 18, Stroll is young and he as Smedley says he will only have 180 minutes of track time ahead of qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.
