McLaren CEO Zak Brown has revealed that Daniel Riccardo who will join the Woking based out in 2021 was excited by the changes that the team have made and the direction they are going in.
It was announced on Thursday that Ricciardo will move from Renault to McLaren for 2021 replacing the Ferrari bound Carlos Sainz.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Friday, Brown said that the team spoke with Ricciardo at the end of 2018 however the Australian felt that it was the wrong time to move to Woking as McLaren had come off a difficult season in 2018 and Brown accepted that.
McLaren had a fantastic season in 2019 finishing best of the rest behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull and ahead of Renault.
The arrival of Andreas Seidl and James Key has also helped the team move forward.
The outfit will switch to Mercedes Benz power in 2021 and with a new windtunnel in the pipeline the future looks Brights for McLaren.
