Long time Team Penske engineer Rick Rinaman returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Helio Castroneves in the No.3 Pennzoil Chevrolet as Turn 1 spotter for the Brazilian for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.

The 68 year old who retired from Team Penske served as Helio Castroneves’ crew chief for each of his three Indianapolis 500 victories in 2001, 2002 and 2009.

Speaking about his return, Rinaman said:

A lot of people would put the Indy 500 on their bucket list.“It’s on my bucket list to keep working it.

Rinaman has been part of many winning 500’s including with Helio Castroneves, Will Power, Rick Mears Al Unser and Emerson Fittipaldi.

Helio Castroneves who starts Sunday’s race from 12th place commented saying:

When I saw him changing my springs, I was like, ‘That’s so cool to see him again. “It’s like going back in time. He probably sees me the same way. I miss the guy. He’s not only a great crew chief but a great person as well.
