NTT IndyCar Series rookies Rinus VeeKay of Ed Carpenter Racing and Dale Coyne with Team Goh’s Alex Palou shone in qualifying for Sunday’s 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
Veekay driving the No.21 Sonax Chevrolet starts the race from fourth place and during Tuesday’s Dairy Association of Indiana Indy 500 rookie luncheon the Dutchman was awarded a cheque for $10,000 as the fastest rookie in the field. Veekqy set a fastest four lap average of 231.704MPH.
Dale Coyne with Team Goh’s Alex Palou in the No.55 Honda starts the race from seventh on the grid having made it into the Fast Nine pole position shootout last Sunday.
The Spaniard set a four lap qverage qualifying speed of 229.676MPH.
Veekay ended qualifying as the fastest Chevrolet driver and with Chevrolet powered teams showing great race pqce during practice on Sunday following qualifying, Rinus is a driver to look out for in the race.
