Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Nico Rosberg set the pace once again in the second practice session under lights at the Sakhir circuit ahead of Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix. The German set a fastest time of 1m 31.001s ending up just ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
McLaren Honda’s Jenson Button had a fantastic session as he ended the afternoon in third place 1.280s behind Rosberg.
Max Verstappen was fourth fastest for Scuderia Toro Rosso just ahead of Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who once again finished ahead of team mate Sebastian Vettel who stopped out on circuit towards the end of the session due to a suspected right rear wheel nut failure.
Daniil Kvyat ended the session in seventh place for Red Bull Racing ending up just ahead of Valtteri Bottas.
Daniel Ricciardo and Felipe Massa rounded out the top ten.
Stoffel Vandoorne did a great job for McLaren Honda as he ended FP2 in 11th place while Fernando Alonso looked on from the pit-wall. Esteban Gutierrez was 12th fastest for the Haas F1 Team just ahead of Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso.
Romain Grosjean was 14th fastest just ahead of Sergio Perez’s Force India. Kevin Magnussen was 16th fastest just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg in the second Force India while Jolyon Palmer was 18th with Manor Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein in 19th place just ahead of the Sauber F1 Team pairing of Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr while Manor Racing’s Rio Haryanto rounded out the time sheets in 22nd place.
