Mercedes Nico Rosberg continued to lead the field in the second practice ahead of Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix. The German set a fastest time of 01.32.250s ending the session just ahead of his team mate and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest with a time of 01.32.573s ending the session just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. Sebastian Vettel in the second Ferrari was fifth fastest. Sahara Force India’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez was sixth fastest just ahead of his team mate Nico Hulkenberg. Fernando Alonso was eighth fastest for McLaren Honda setting a fastest time of 01.33.985s.
Valtteri Bottas was ninth fastest for the Williams Martini Racing Team while Carlos Sainz rounded out the top ten for Toro Rosso.
Felipe Massa was eleventh fastest just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo. Romain Grosjean was 13th fastest just ahead of Daniil Kvyat. Renault Sport F1’s Keven Magnussen was 15th fastest setting a time of 01:34.339s ending the session just ahead of McLaren Honda’s Jenson Button.
Esteban Gutierrez was 17th fastest just ahead of Jolyon Palmer and Felipe Nasr. Pascal Wehrlein was 20th for Manor Racing setting a time of 01.35.292s ending the session just ahead of his team mate Esteban Ocon while the Sauber F1 Team’s Marcus Ericsson ended the day by rounding out the order in 22nd place.
