Mercedes Nico Rosberg took an important victory at the Singapore night race on Sunday, the German dominated the race coming home just ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo and his Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg has now retaken the lead the championship as the sport heads to Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysian GrandPrix. The German leads the championship race by eight points.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen had an uneventful race coming home in fourth place while his team mate Sebastian Vettel came from the back of the grid to finish the race just behind the Iceman in fifth place.

Max Verstappen ended the race in sixth place for Red Bull Racing despite a bad start which resulted in Sahara Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg having to take evasive action and in doing so he hit Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz and retired from the race. The resulting collision brought out the safety car.

Fernando Alonso did a great job finishing the race in seventh place for McLaren Honda just ahead of Force India’s Sergio’s Perez.

Daniil Kvyat finished the race in ninth place while Kevin Magnussen gave the Renault Sport F1 Team something to build on as he finished he rounded out the top ten. The Haas F1 Team Esteban Gutierrez finished the race just outside the top ten in 11th place just ahead of Felipe Massa in the Williams and Felipe Nasr’s Sauber.

Carlos Sainz finished the race in 14th place for Toro Rosso just ahead of Jolyon Palmer and Manor Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein.

Marcus Ericsson finished the race in 17th place just ahead of Esteban Ocon who ended the race two laps down on race winner Nico Rosberg. McLaren Honda’s Jenson Button, Williams Martini Racing’s Valtteri Bottas and Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg retired from the race while Romain Grosjean failed to start the event.

Next up for the F1 circus is the Malaysian Grand Prix in two weeks time.
