Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist in the No.60 AutoNation Sirius XM Honda was delighted with his and the team’s showing during qualifying for the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey on Sunday as the Swede starts the race from third.
Speaking following the action he said:
“It was really tough, really tight all qualifying to get to the Fast 12 and then the Fast Six,” Palou said. “It was really tricky with track conditions. As soon as there was some wind, you couldn’t really finish the lap because there was no grip.
“Really happy. The car was on rails today, so the best starting position for tomorrow.”
David Malukas returned to an INDYCAR cockpit on Saturday for the first time since his accident and managed to get the second MSR car into 12th.
For Meyer Shank Racing, it was the first time since the Children’s Grand Prix of Alabama in April that they have managed to get both cars into the Firestone Fast 12. Speaking following the action Malukas said:
I took the brace off and tried something different with a wrap and it definitely helped. Making it to Q2 felt like a victory to me. We got that one perfect lap in there and made it work. You are coming into the season when every else is in mid-season form, but everything felt good to me. I am really happy with how everything went today.”
