Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi in the No.27 NAPA Auto Parts Honda and defending Indianapolis 500 winner Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet took to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on Wednesday to film a very special feature for NBC Sport.
It is the month of May however due to the global COVID 19 pandemic the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 has been postponed until Sunday August 23 while the start of the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season, the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg was postponed from March 15 and will now be held on the weekend of October 23 to 25.
The 2020 season will now get underway on Saturday June 6 at Texas Motor Speedway for the Genesys 300 as a one day event with practice, qualifying and the race all taking place on the same day.
Simon Pagenaud and Alexander Rossi who won the Indy 500 as a rookie in 2016 were joined by Mike Tirico as they filmed through social distancing for NBC Sports 2019 Indianapolis 500 encore special which will be aired on Sunday May 24, the original date of the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
