Alexander Rossi in the No.20 Java House ECR Chevrolet was the pacesetter in the second split practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday.
The 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner set a fastest time of 01:10.3228s. Graham Rahal was second for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing just ahead of Colton Herta and Will Power.
Conor Daly had a solid session for Juncos Hollinger Racing as he ended the session in fifth with a time of 01:10.7807s while Felix Rosenqvist was sixth for Meyer Shank Racing just ahead of Louis Foster and Kyffin Simpson. Christian Lundgaard was ninth for Arrow McLaren while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda rounded out the top ten in group 2 with a time of 01:10.9702s.
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden was 11th just ahead of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Devlin DeFransceco. Jacob Abel was 13th for Dale Coyne Racing while Santino Ferrucci and Robert Schwartzman rounded out the order for PREMA Racing.
