Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi is hopeful his podium finish at the Honda Indy Toronto last weekend will help him and the team to have a strong end to the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season.
Rossi finished runner up to Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden and in doing so scored his best result since he won the Indianapolis 500 last year as a rookie.
Rossi is currently in eighth place in the championship on 330 points.
Andretti Autosport could be on the move to Chevrolet power next season which means that Rossi is potentially on the move as Paddock Eye understands that Honda are keen to keep him with them in 2018.
Speaking following the Honda Indy Toronto Rossi stated:
This finish has been a long time coming. We had the Indy win, but I’ve been looking for that first podium and hopefully this will be a foundation to go and chase more wins. I’m relieved that we finally kind of got the monkey off our back. It was a huge turnaround overnight by Andretti Autosport to get the car where it needed to be for the race today. Qualifying was a huge effort for the whole team. I’m very proud of Honda for the effort they’ve made. As we’ve said, this year has been a huge turnaround. Big shout out to the Toronto fans for coming out to the race. It really is amazing coming here, and hopefully we can carry this momentum on to Mid-Ohio and get a win.
