Rossi ended the session just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s trio of Marcus Ericsson in the No.8 Huski Chocolate Honda, defending champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda and Alex Palou in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda.
Ed Jones was fifth for Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing in the No.18 Team SealMaster Honda.
Pato O’Ward in the No.5 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet was seventh with a time of 01:06.3948s just ahead of Will Power in the No.12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet for Team Penske who set a 01:06.5230s.
Conor Daly was ninth for Ed Carpenter Racing just ahead of Jack Harvey who rounded put the top ten.
Sebastien Bourdais was 11th for AJ Foyt Racing just ahead of Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 PPG Chevrolet.
Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe 13th in the No.29 Genesys Honda who was just ahead Josef Newgarden, Colton Herta and Ryan Hunter Reay.
Romain Grosjean was 17th just ahead of Simon Pagenaud and Rinus Veekay.
Takuma Sato was 20th just ahead of Max Chilton, Dalton Kellett and Graham Rahal while Jimmie Johnson rounded out the order.
