Arrow MxLaren’s Alexander Rossi led the way in the opening practice session for the Sonsio Grand Prix of the Road America circuit in Wisconsin. Rossi set a fastest time of 01:41.7790s just ahead of David Malukas for Dale Coyne with HMD motorsports who set a 01:41.8652s. Championship leader Alex Palou was third fastest in the No.10 American Legion Honda with a time of 01:41.9486s.

It was a solid start to the weekend of two-time Road America race winner Scott Dixon in the No,9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, who set a fastest time of 01:41.9544s ending the session just ahead of Pato O’Ward and Marcus Ericsson.

Christian Lundgaard was seventh for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist and Colton Herta while Marcus Armstrong rounded out the top ten for Chip Ganassi Racing. Graham Rahal in the Np.15 Fifth Third Bank Honda had a solid session in 11th place just ahead of Devlin DeFrancesco while Santino Ferrucci in the No.14 Sexton Properties Chevrolet had a great session in 13th place with a time of 01:42.4580s.

Sting Ray Robb had a solid session in 14th for Dale Coyne Racing as he ended the session in 14th place just ahead of the Penske trio of Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden and Will Power.

Romain Grosjean was 18th just ahead of Kyle Kirkwoos and Helio Castroneves. Austin Canapino was 21st while in his first session back on a road course since 2021, Eyabn Hunter Reay was 22nd just ahead of Jack Harvey and Benjamin Pedersen while Callum Ilott was 25th just ahead of Rinus VeeKay while Simon Pagenaud rounded out the order.
