Defending series champion Scott Dixon was third fastest in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda while Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda for Andretti Autosport was fourth fastest.
Simon Pagenaud was the fastest Chevrolet driver in fifth for Team Penske in the No.22 DXC Technologies Chevrolet for Team Penske with a time of 01:07.4484s ending the session just ahead of his team mate and series points leader Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Hitachi Chevrolet for Team Penske.
Colton Herta in the No.88 King Taco Honda for Harding Steinbrenner Racing was seventh just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda.
Patricio O’Ward produced another strong session for Carlin Racing ending the morning in ninth place while Team Penske’s Will Power rounded out the top ten in the 12 Verizon Chevrolet.
Sebastien Bourdais in the No.18 Team SealMaster Honda was 11th for Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing just ahead of Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrow Electronics Honda.
Zach Veach in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda for Andretti Autosport was 13th fastest just ahead of Marcus Ericsson in the No.7 Arrow Electronics Honda for Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Jack Harvey in the No.60 AutoNation Sirius XM Honda was 15th fastest with a time of 01:07.6433s ending the session just ahead of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato.
Marco Andretti in the No.98 US Concrete Honda was 17th just ahead of Ed Jones and Spencer Pigot from Ed Carpenter Racing. Santino Ferrucci was 20th for Dale Coyne Racing just ahead of Carlin Racing’s Max Chilton while AJ Foyt Racing’s Tony Kanaan and Mathues Matt Leist rounded out the order.
