Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi was in California today ahead of Thursday’s open test at Sonoma Raceway. Rossi who drives the No.98 Castrol/EDGE Honda for Andretti Autosport was at the California senate where he received an official declaration from California senator Ted Gaines.

The presentation took place at California Capitol Senate building in California, Rossi’s home state.

Rossi who finished the IndyCar Grand Prix at Watkins Glen presented by Hitachi in eighth place will join his Andretti Autosport team mate’s Ryan Hunter Reay, Carlos Munoz, Ryan Hunter Reay and Marco Andretti at Sonoma Raceway for the Verizon IndyCar Series open test ahead of the season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma which takes place on September 18.

Rossi goes into the season finale in 11th place in the Verizon IndyCar Series points standings on 370 points and is the highest placed Sunoco Rookie of the year contender.
